In 2005 I was leading a group of 18 teenagers from Northern Michigan to go on a mission trip overseas. When we got to O’Hare airport we learned that our plane had some mechanical issues. We would be stuck in the airport for 36 hours! While at the airport we saw another group of teens from South America with the same problem (they looked completely lost). So, we approached them and asked if we could lead them in youth group games, they agreed and we both had a blast. It was much better than feeling sorry for ourselves.
But now it’s time to hear from you, so I want to know: When did something not go as expected, and how did you handle it? In 100 words or less, send your responses to [email protected] with the subject line “Change of Plans.”
