This past weekend my favorite football team lost BAD to one of their rivals, and here’s my take-away. The players (who lost) could go over to the scoreboard and yell at it to change the score to reflect a victory. But this effort would be futile and silly.

The players could use the scoreboard to motivate them to look deeper. To look at their process for training and preparing.
In life we can do the same. This difference is the metrics of our scoreboard. We can look at our productivity, our relationships and our personal life. If we are experiencing growth in those areas, then we are “winning”. However, if we are sliding in our productivity, failing in relationships and our personal life is a mess then YELLING at one or all of the three will do no good. Instead, let’s focus on the process. If we improve the process, we will improve the outcome.
