I have a confession to make. My marriage struggles (most often) because of the sin that I bring into it. The biblical book of 1st John in the New Testament has a condensed list of my sin: lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. To say it another way, I sin against myself, my family, my wife, and God with my behavior, thoughts, and arrogance.
This sin is TOXIC in my marriage and family. I have a sin problem and it is hurting my marriage.
What’s the remedy?
God’s Grace. I need God’s grace in my life to heal me of my sin.
How do I get God’s Grace?
That’s easy; we have to Ask for it.
This next part might surprise you.
The biblical book of 1 Peter says that WE (people) are God’s managers of HIS grace. So, if I want grace to heal me of my sin, I have to go to people and ask for it.
What’s more, the biblical book of James tells us to confess our sins to each other and pray for each other – the prayers of a righteous person has great benefits.
James also tells us that God is opposed to the proud and gives grace to the humble.
There is nothing more humbling than telling people that I don’t have my life put together, that I have a sin issue, and I need their help.
Friends, would you pray for me?
I have a sin problem.
- I have evil thoughts about others
- Impatient with people near me (usually in my car)
- Demanding
- Think more highly of myself than I should
- Self-righteous
- Not content with what I have and have become selfish
- Lazy
- Critical
- I am a sinner, sinning against my family, friends, wife, self, and God
Improving My Marriage
My sin harms my life and the life of the people I love. I have to start there with my sin and deal with it.
That’s how I improve my marriage.
Start with ME, my sin.
Move to the WE, growing and communicating together as a couple.
Rely on God to provide the resources for marriage beyond our control.
Would you pray for me and my sin problem?
AND
Can I return the favor? I want to pray for you too.

Yes. I think most of us (human-Christians) suffer with like sins. We prayed for you…will you pray for us too?

I need all the prayers I can get, and be sure I will be praying for you too.
