Is Your Life On The Back Burner?
I use the back burner on my stove almost every day. My morning routine involves making myself breakfast (steel-cut oatmeal) and finishing up any dishes left from the night before. With steel-cut oats, I can literally “set it and forget it” (thanks Ronko). I set the oats on the back burner and work on other things for about 15 min. I come back to the oats in 15 to perfectly cooked oats.
But what about in real life, with our relationships, profession, or personal goals?
Have you placed your life on the back burner?
How is that going for you?
There’s a story in the New Testament about Jesus asking someone if they wanted to get well. The individual responded in a curious way (almost like he was on the back burner of life).
He didn’t say “YES, I want to get well!”
Instead.
He said, “no one is here to help.”
Would you like to get well?
- Do you want to get well with your marriage?
- Do you want to get well with your addiction?
- Do you want to get well in your isolation?
- Do you want to get will in your finances?
- Do you want to get well with your career?
Getting well starts with you taking ownership of your life.
Getting well means you take your life off the back burner.
