Life Coaching For Pastors
In the past year, I have witnessed several pastors and ministry leaders crash and burn in ministry. Some have been moral failures, some have been criminal, while others have been because of burnout from the ministry.I have talked with several pastors who are on the verge of burnout but for some reason cannot move themselves to sign-up for life coaching. Here’s the reason that I have seen most; FEAR. They are afraid that if they ask their board for the finances to see a life coach or a counselor they will be viewed as inadequate for their ministry position. Friends, that is reason enough that they NEED life coaching. This is faulty thinking on the pastor’s part. What’s more, it is dangerous thinking because it leaves the pastor/ministry leader isolated and that becomes toxic to themselves, their families and the church family. In fact, one pastor I spoke with told me; “Terry, I know I need life coaching; but I don’t have the money and I don’t want my board to know that I need this.”
