Friendships are powerful; a person’s character is either challenged, sharpened, or even destroyed by the friends he keeps. Therefore it is critical that we are wise in who we have as friends.
Proverbs 4:14-16 (NLT)
Don’t do as the wicked do, and don’t follow the path of evildoers. Don’t even think about it; don’t go that way. Turn away and keep moving. For evil people can’t sleep until they’ve done their evil deed for the day. They can’t rest until they’ve caused someone to stumble.
Ask yourself these questions as it relates to your friends:
- Are they “Life Givers”? Here’s what I mean; do they suck the life out of you or do they add life to your life? Are you mentally and emotionally drained because of your time with them?
- Do they have high moral integrity?
- Are they “for you”? That is, you know they will have your back or your best interest in mind.
- Are they teachable?
- Are they honest?
- Do they keep their word?
