Think of an impossible situation in your life?
- Credit Card Debt
- Repairing a Broken Relationship
- Moving on from an impossible situation
- Finding a Satisfying Job
- Losing Weight and Keeping it Off
- Kicking a Bad Habit
Whatever your impossible situation is, I am sure you have tried one of the three ways to get past it (I know I have)
- You have probably TRIED HARDER
- You have probably TRIED the SAME THING over and over with no tangible result (this is called insanity)
- You have probably QUIT trying
Impossible situations are MOTIVATION SUCKERS; that is, they leave you in a state of near-depression, maybe even denial that you even have an impossible situation.
There’s Hope
I believe that God can make a way for you to get past your impossible situation. I believe that HE wants to help us in our impossible situations (but many times, we have been holding back).
There are usually three parts that are required before we can move past our impossible situations:
- We need to TRUST GOD, align with Him, and ask for His help (be specific).
- We need to FIND NEW resources to solve our situation
- We need to keep doing our part (read Galatians 6:9 for encouragement).
I talked with a client of mine about these principles, and he reminded me about a passage in the Old Testament where David had to follow this same advice.
1 Chronicles 14:8-12 (NLT)
When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they mobilized all their forces to capture him. But David was told they were coming, so he marched out to meet them. 9The Philistines arrived and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim. 10So David asked God, “Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?”The LORD replied, “Yes, go ahead. I will hand them over to you.”
11So David and his troops went up to Baal-perazim and defeated the Philistines there. “God did it!” David exclaimed. “He used me to burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So they named that place Baal-perazim (which means “the Lord who bursts through”). 12The Philistines had abandoned their gods there, so David gave orders to burn them.
David did three things, He asked God for help and guidance, he brought resources (his army), and he did what he could do (he went to the battle).
