HOLY SPIRIT
Walking by faith is difficult.
Many times, we feel alone in our walk.
Will the relationship work out?
Will there be enough money at the end of the month?
Will that job offer come through?
Will I have the resources I need to accomplish my goals?
Will Junior recover from his medical issues?
Will IT work out the way I hope?
Walking by faith is DIFFICULT.
Many times, in this walk of faith, we feel ALONE.
But we are not alone.
John 16:7-8 (NLT) – Jesus said, “But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate (the Holy Spirit) won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.”
Jesus came to earth to be a substitute for our sin, and then He said He had to leave so we would not be alone. Jesus had to return to His Father so He could send us His Holy Spirit. But how does the Holy Spirit help us in our walk of faith?
The Holy Spirit Bring Security
Ephesians 1:13-14 (NLT) – And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. 14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.
Ephesians 4:30 (NLT) – And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
1 John 4:4 (NLT) – But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
The Holy Spirit Brings Relationship
Romans 7:6 (NLT) – But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
Psalm 139:7 (NLT) – I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!
Romans 8:26-27 (NLT) – And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.
The Holy Spirit Brings Guidance
John 14:26 (NLT) – Jesus said, “But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”
John 16:13-15 (NLT) – Jesus said, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’”
Acts: 13:4 (NLT) – So Barnabas and Saul were sent out by the Holy Spirit…
