JESUS
To you, who is Jesus?
What role does he play in your life?
Does Jesus influence you?
Do you pray to Him?
What role do you want Him to have?
The New Testament has much to say about Jesus’s PERSON and His ROLE in our life. Consider the following verses from the various books of the Bible.
Jesus is always WITH US.
Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT) – “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Jesus is IN us (spiritually).
Ephesians 3:17 (NLT) – “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.”
Jesus Helps us to be fruitful in life and answers our prayers.
John 15:4-5, 7 (NLT) – Jesus said, “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing… But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!”
Jesus gives us Power.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT) – Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
Jesus gives us Peace.
Colossians 3:15 (NLT) – And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
Jesus wants a Relationship with us.
Colossians 2:6-7 (NLT) – And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
Jesus is a Model for us.
Philippians 2:1-5 (NLT) – Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
Do you know Jesus? Is He playing a role in your life?
I have been a follower of Christ for 32 years. I know a lot about him and what He offers me. However, I do not take full advantage of the help and life He does offer. Instead, I start with ME and become impatient when my life doesn’t work out how I want.
For 32 years, I have not taken full advantage of the power, peace, relationship, conversation, or example Jesus offers me.
My homework is to wake up tomorrow and ask Jesus what HE has planned for me.
My homework is to learn more about WHO He is and WHAT He wants to accomplish in the world.
My homework is to WALK as He walked as a humble servant.
Who is Jesus to you?
