Ephesians 5:15-17 (NLT) – So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
There is a lot to celebrate this time of year, but that doesn’t mean that you forget about the future and what is ahead. It’s time to act, it’s time to make a plan, it’s time to set some goals. January 2nd is coming up fast and there will be a lot of time between now and then that you CAN use to set some goals and projects for 2019. Here a few steps you can take now that you can leverage for a new year.
Step 1: DEFINE YOUR FUTURE
What does next year look like; where do you want to be next year at this time. What are some financial goals, relational goals, spiritual goals, physical health goals you have? Take a few moments and dream about what your life can look like next year at this time! Be sure to write it down in a journal.
Last December I dreamed about starting my own business and being a blessing to Christ Hope International. I took notes, I prayed and I made a few lists of what this year would look like. Now, a year later I am launching my own business and I share office space with CHRIST HOPE!
Step 2: RECRUIT A TEAM
I have learned that I have to have a few friends that are FOR ME, to help me get to where I want to go and to help me stay clear of pitfalls along the way. You too will need to recruit a few friends that you can share your dreams with and help you succeed.
Proverbs 12:15 (NLT) – Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.
If this step is a struggle for you then give me a call or email to set up a consultation to bring clarity to your goals.
Step 3: MAKE A PLAN
Actually, you will need to make two plans. Your first plan will help you navigate the Holiday season and the second plan will help you to have a successful 2019. For your second plan, you need to be clear, realistic, measurable (e.g. I want to lose 25 lbs in 2019), and timely. I love helping people set goals and plans. There is no reason you should do the same thing year-after-year and expect different results. Take control of your life and be responsible!
Proverbs 12:14 (NLT) – Wise words bring many benefits, and hard work brings rewards.
