I had an interesting meeting this morning at one of my favorite breakfast spots. But when I look at all the details, I can see that God was really working behind the scenes to make this meeting happened. In real-time, it started this morning when one of my former students (now a very successful businessman in our community) sat down with me to chat at 7am (this was an unplanned meeting between the two of us). We spent several minutes talking about life, kids, work, and health; and then he dropped this bomb: “Pastor Terry, I have to tell you something, I prayed last night that I would see you here today because there is something I need to tell you.”
WOW, how cool is that. Now, I could say that it was simply a coincidence that we were both there this morning; but I really don’t think so. I believe in a Real God (my Heavenly Father) who cares for us and listens to us. I also believe that HE can and does work behind the scenes in our life to provide opportunities for these “divine” appointments. I also believe that in these very simple answered prayers God can strengthen our faith.
We went on to have a great conversation; the former teen from the youth group shared with me something that was on his heart. We then went our separate ways and I reflected on the events of the morning. In my Bible reading I came across the following verse:
Matthew 6:33-34 (NLT)
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
For this former teen, he needed to share with me some things on his heart and he chose to pray to God about them (seek Him). He could have looked up my phone number and given me a call, but he chose to Seek God First about this conversation.
What needs do you have in your life; and what’s more, are you Seeking God First in those needs?
Start right now by going to God and telling Him your needs and asking Him to help you with them.
