What Is the Responsible Thing To Do?
In a time of crisis, we find ourselves asking, “What is the responsible thing to do?” It might not be phrased exactly like that, but in some way, we ask and then act out our personal answer. Last week, CBS NEWS reported on Spring Break Students celebrating their youth down in Florida. Their answer to the question was to live in the moment and live for self.
Two days ago, CNN and NPR reported about another social gathering in Kentucky, a group of young adults held a “coronavirus party” after being told to practice social distancing. Their answer to the question was like that of the spring break crowd. “It’s My Life!” I’m sure there are countless stories like this of individuals living for self and ignoring the concern for the many.
The Bible has a warning for this type of living in the Biblical Book of Galatians:
Galatians 6:7-8 (NLT) – Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.
What Is the Responsible Thing To Do?
One thing is true about what we are learning from the spread of COVID-19. Life is fragile.
What Is the Responsible Thing To Do?
The law of Sowing and Reaping is very clear, Selfish living will lead to pain and suffering. The Pain and suffering from selfishness is not limited to the individual, it has exponential ramification. There Will Be Collateral Damage for Selfishness.
